Whee, made a seed tincture one day years ago and then took way too much of it accidentally.. so you can imagine the stereotypical trip.
What really got me, and mentally I was somewhat detached from it so I remember almost all of it, was the frankness of the hallucinations. I was trying to shake some parmesan cheese onto some noodles I was eating, and the shaker was there, and it wasn't, and then it was.. same with salt.. I couldn't tell if I was actually using these things or not.
Also, the cigarette thing.. what the fuck. You think you're smoking one, then it's gone, then you are sure you're smoking one, but you're not. none of this is ego-dystonic whatsoever.
I also locked myself in the bathroom accidentally and could not get out even though it was just a little latch that you have to turn 90 degrees. I was positively baffled. I was in there for hours, and I had to have someone help me get out.
Fuckin deliriants.
At least I learned a lot.

Re: D. stramonium

that sounds knarly... the safest way to use datura is external. You take a few leaves, mash them into a pulp and apply as a poulice to your third eye and the nape of the neck. This facilitates lucid dreaming and shamanic journeys. You can also take a few seeds (3 - 6)and keep them for about 20 minutes under your tongue, don't swallow!
I've used the above methods before and also experimented with smoking, but all datura alkaloids have an acculmulative negative effect on the heart, so I pretty much stopped using nightshades altogether. The poulice method results in interesting altered states, probably the safest way to fly. Datura was traditionally used in the famous witches flying ointments. These were applied not just externally to the tender skin, but also vaginally with the use of broomsticks. Which is where the common folk image came from.
I haven't yet dared below-the-belt applications, but would be curious to hear from those that have. And I'd like to make a real life flying ointment one of these days, any feedback appreciated.
love & blessings

Re: D. stramonium
Thu, December 29, 2005 - 3:14 PMJust watch your dosages. A few friends and I brewed it up to see if it works. Same amount on each of us. I was the most sensitive to the whoozies, a few other girls did not get anything more than a little tingle. I do warn just as LOLaB, this is a dangerous application , especially to those sensitive to blood thinners. But hey it was fun when I tried it.

Re: D. stramonium
Mon, September 4, 2006 - 10:41 PMLa datura... she is a fierce plant. Communion with her can be very disturbing because the world she projects is seemless with our "regular" world. So when a 14' giraffe wearing a "Vote for Ike" eyepatch tears down a part of your living room wall... sticks in his/her head and starts to talk with you... OF COURSE you are going to answer its questions. Anything else would be rude.
La Datura respects power and strength... and can... and will snap those who come to her with weakness. She is a living spirit... one of the non-humans who have a way to be touched and experienced.
Almost all of my experimenting has been with root concoctions. the best I can say is that I lived each time.... or... at least it appears that way. And yes Carlos.... you really WERE flying...

Re: D. stramonium
Tue, September 5, 2006 - 6:09 PMi made an extract os some purple and some white d stramonium , mature leaves. used water , a big pot, and a heating pad on high. strained out the leaves when the mixture got low. then reduced it to a tacky goo which cooled to about the consistancy of play dough(you could make it into marble sized chunks and swallow them whole.) marble sized chunks turned out to be way, way too much, however. restless legs first, then (sleep?) followed by complete delirium. in the car at the light, pig runs into road, almost hitting pig, sitting up in bed. looking to left, friend is drooling at desk, blink eyes, friend is drooling in passenger seat, slam on breaks, sitting up in bed, pig has wings. now in room. going to bathroom , looking at sink, seeing self at sink washing hands, looking down at penise, but instead hands are in sink being washed. horrible taste in mouth. more sleep. the ciggarrette thing and the dissapearing salt were the after effects, lasting about 4 days, along with horribly dialated pupils and not being able to read anything too close was blurry. \
point being i was careless and probably have lasting brain damage.
Datura stramonium is NOT like inoxia or evem metel. be very careful whan playing with this wild one- -

Re: D. stramonium
Mon, October 2, 2006 - 7:53 AMI have large plants of D. stramonium in my yard, they are real Nitrogen hogs. I sometimes like to drink meade out of the flowers, you get a nice homeopathic effect from that. I like using the seeds when I get a runny nose, I chew like 2-3 seeds and my nose drys up real quick. You can't take the seeds every day tho cuz the toxins are accumulative. This one, like all Daturas, can take you to meet your ancestors. My suggestion of taking the seeds or other plant parts is too start out with SMALL amounts and SLOWLY work your way up to larger doses after allowing a couple of weeks between experiments. Don't do it alone ! It's highly recommended you have a baby sitter. -

Re: D. stramonium
Tue, October 3, 2006 - 6:47 PMOn the herbal side, however, the sheer abundance and potency of the tropanes - atropine, scopolamine and hyoscyamine - make it an ideal supplement to reduce gastric motility for IBS, UC, acute diarrhea and Crohn's (i have studied as an herbalist and yes - there is a fine fine line between therapeutic dose and cardiac QRS+T / mydriasis and other problems)
If only there was an easy way to measure the potency of a reduction from ripe seeds without GCMS. Microgram/mL makes this extremely hard.

Wed, October 4, 2006 - 7:07 PMI think this was the most suspenseful exchange I've ever experienced in a tribe discussion.
I was really looking forward to learning more about the picture! -

Wed, October 4, 2006 - 7:18 PMAh, I remember now. I think you had this picture: people.tribe.net/f5752eb5-...889fa835d3 as your icon. So my comment was about that particular picture being before, during, or after the D. stramonium experience. -

Re: D. stramonium
Wed, October 11, 2006 - 10:52 AMI gave a friend of mine with a runny nose ( head cold ) about 5 seeds and instructed them
to chew up the seeds but not to swallow them. Hold the chewed up seeds in your mouth for about 20-30 min then spit em out. The alkaloids in the mouth are closer to the sinuses. Her nose cleared up in about 1/2 hour and stayed that way for most of the day....
